Festival of Words Writing Contest
Rules and Guidelines
Entry forms are available at the South Sunset Community Library.
Entries must be postmarked by October 8.
- The contest is open to youth in grades K – 12.
- There are four age groups:
- Each student may enter the contest once.
- The two categories are poetry and prose.
- A completed entry form must be stapled behind the submission.
- Student’s personal information should not appear on the entry.
- Teachers should send all entries from their classes together in one envelope.
- Teachers/ facilitators must complete a Facilitator Form and provide a list of all entrants in your class.

- All work must be original.
- Work must be typed or legibly written.
- Poems may not exceed 40 lines in length.
- Prose entries may not exceed 500 words in length.
- First place winners will receive a $15.00 prize. Second and third place winners will receive a certificate. Winners will be acknowledged at a ceremony on October 24.
- Entries may be picked up at the Sunset Library during the week of November 1.
